In India, the snake primarily represents rebirth because of its shedding skin and thus being symbolically “reborn.” Over a large part of India, there are carved representations of cobras or “nagas” at various temples and shrines to which food and flowers are offered, and lamps lit before the shrines.
The snake is to be seen as a symbol of mother earth, transformation and healing!
